Stop turning your phone off

The first thing you need to stop doing is turning your phone off regularly, because it’s not actually designed to be shut down.

“You do not need to turn off your phone all the way, every day,” he said. “These are designed to stay on.”

He said the only times you should turn your device off is if it’s non-responsive or some apps aren’t loading properly.

Don’t sleep next to your phone

Next up, he told everyone to stop sleeping next to your iPhone, or with it under your pillow, because this can cause it to overheat.

On top of being really dangerous and risking starting a fire, overheating is really bad for your device’s battery life, significantly reducing its lifespan.

Speaking about battery health, the TikTok user has revealed that you shouldn’t actually be closing your apps either.

Stop using it in the shower

“I don’t know why people choose touse their phone in the shower, but if you do that, please stop,” Morgan continued.

He explained that moisture will get into your phone which can cause damage, and the water temperature can also cause overheating.

Many of the newer iPhones are water-resistant and can tolerate submersion, but regular water contact is not recommended.

Do not charge up to 100%

The next one is something you probably do every day – charge your iPhone all the way up to 100%. What’s wrong with that?

Well, the TikTok user revealed this will reduce your battery life too, so that means no more charging your phone overnight!

“If you care about your battery health at all, do not charge to 100%. Keep it between 20% and 80%,” he said.

Don’t send photos via iMessage

The ex-Apple employee advised also people to stop messaging photos to friends who are in the same place, and Air Drop them instead.

He explained that when you send photos to people, they are stored in the attachments section and the camera roll, making two copies.

That uses up way more storage without you even realising it, filling up your phone really quick.

Never fill up your storage

The final tip is not to fill up your storage too much, because when your phone gets close to full, it doesn’t run as well.

Your device will be slow and lag a lot, which makes using apps and other everyday features really difficult.

Instead, try to use iCloud and Google Photos to store you photos where possible, which will save loads of space.

“If you do those things, you should have a pretty good iPhone experience,” Morgan concluded.
