In the Turkish city of Adıyaman, a shooting occurred at a police station. One of the law enforcement officers opened fire on colleagues, resulting in the deaths of two people, and eight others were injured, according to the Turkish edition Halk TV.

The incident took place on Saturday evening at the local police station.

According to preliminary information, a police officer (identified as S.U.Ş.) shot the head of the department and the group leader with a pistol. Other officers stopped the shooter by shooting him in the legs.

According to information obtained by Halk TV from sources in law enforcement agencies, the attacker argued with the chief inspector of the police department and the group leader over an assignment at the scene.

Turkey's Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya, has responded to the incident, stating that the perpetrator has been taken into custody. In a tweet, he mentioned that the police officer S.U.Ş. seriously wounded the police headquarters chief K.Ü. and the public security management department chief G.Ö. with his service weapon at the Adıyaman police headquarters.

"Our police headquarters chief K.Ü. and our public security management department chief G.Ö., who were seriously injured and taken to the hospital. Despite all the interventions made at the hospital, they could not be saved, and unfortunately, they passed away," he wrote.

The head of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs added that an investigation is underway into the incident.

Earlier, it was reported that at the end of March in Turkiye, in the village of Diyarbakir, during voting at a polling station, an argument broke out among those present, which escalated into a brawl with shooting. As a result of the incident, one person was killed, and more than ten were injured.
