40-year-old Liverpool legend spotted during NFL draft, he made an announcement

There was a surprising guest making Miami Dolphins’ draft pick announcement in the NFL Draft on Saturday night.

One of the most anticipated nights in the NFL is draft night. It’s an evening which kicks off the new season, and which offers plenty of drama and excitement.

In football terms, imagine it as a one entire summer transfer window condensed into one evening, where players make moves and clubs announce their new signings for the start of the season.

Naturally, it’s full of entertainment, surprises and special guest. Sometimes you even have really bizarre guests like on Saturday night, when a former Liverpool legend made an appearance.

Fernando Torres spotted in the NFL Draft

The Liverpool legend in question is Fernando Torres. The Spaniard was spotted in the NFL Draft making the announcement for the sixth pick for the Miami Dolphins.

Wearing an Atletico Madrid training top, Torres was spotted floating on the screen with a projection of the Atletico Madrid stadium behind him.

He appeared on the Draft to announce the Dolphins picking up wide receiver Malik Washington as their sixth pick of the draft.

Torres initially started speaking Spanish before switching to English to make the announcement. There was also no explanation provided as to why Torres was picked to make the announcement.

What is Fernando Torres up to these days?

The 40-year-old has been a coach of Atletico Madrid’s U19 team for the last few seasons now. A couple of years ago, he even coached Atletico Madrid against Liverpool in the UEFA Youth League.

Recently, he spent a bit of time studying the work of Jurgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders at Liverpool, and has openly admitted he enjoys Klopp’s style of play.

He also scored at Anfield in a legends game recently against Ajax.
