Report: West Ham told to pay £20m for player with 31 goals this season who wants Hammers move

Sammie Szmodics is firmly on the West Ham United radar, and now a new claim has been made that makes us signing him an absolute no-brainer this summer.

The West Ham transfer team have been keeping their eye on Sammie Szmodics ahead of the summer transfer window.

It was claimed just last week that the 28-year-old wants to join his boyhood club from Blackburn Rovers this summer.

The Hammers may well need to add a top quality attacking midfielder to our ranks this summer, with Lucas Paqueta being heavily linked with Manchester City.

That said, the Brazilian has just suggested that he’s more than happy at the London Stadium right now.

However, it wouldn’t shock anyone if Paqueta did leave for pastures new before the start of next season.

And it seems like West Ham could well be planning for life without the 26-year-old…

Sammie Szmodics claim means West Ham have easy decision to make

It seems like the 28-year-old could be London Stadium bound this summer, for a very reasonable fee indeed.

The Blackburn ace is a boyhood Hammers fan, so tempting him to join us should not be a difficult task at all.

According to a report from The Sun, West Ham have been told to pay £20 million if we want to sign the attacking midfielder this summer.

Paying £20 million for a player with Szmodics quality should be an absolute no-brainer for West Ham as far as I’m concerned.

The 28-year-old has 31 goals and four assists to his name in 47 games for Blackburn so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Szmodics has unreal technique and a real eye for goal, as those numbers above prove.

He is at his absolute best when playing in the number 10 role, but can also operate as a centre-forward if need be.

I think that Sammie Szmodics would be a fantastic addition to the West Ham squad.
