Report: Bayern Munich now really want to sign £50m Man City player in the summer

It has been reported that Bayern Munich are interested in signing a certain Manchester City player in the summer.

During the early days of City’s takeover, perhaps that might have been a concern.

Bayern Munich have been right up there as one of the best teams in the world for decades.

Being German football’s dominant force and one of the Champions League’s prime contenders every season, when they are interested in signing a player, more often than not, they get the deal done.

But the same can be said about Manchester City nowadays.

Since Pep Guardiola’s appointment in 2016, the club have gone from being viewed as a big team to a true giant of world football.

Bayern Munich interested in signing £50 million Man City player

More often than not, when City aim to sign a player, it simply boils down to them paying the selling club’s asking price.

If Manchester City agree to, deals seemingly get quite easily done by them.

For example, Darren Bent stated that if the Sky Blues agree to shell out an £80 million fee to sign Lucas Paqueta, the move will be completed.

After missing out on the Bundesliga after their 11 years of dominance to Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern will be itching to reclaim their crown.

As a result, the German giants will be ambitious in the transfer window.

To reinforce their team with the best players in the world would be a simple yet hugely effective way of doing so.

As a result, the Daily Star have claimed that Bayern have re-ignited their interest in signing Kyle Walker.

The report states that only time will tell whether the £50 million man fancies a move abroad in the summer.

However, Bayern feel “quietly optimistic” that they would be the frontrunners to sign Kyle Walker if he decides to leave Manchester City at the end of the season.

Kyle Walker should view his legacy as Man City captain to snub Bayern

Kyle Walker could likely be flattered that Bayern seem to be expressing their interest in his signature once again.

However, with Walker being Manchester City’s captain, he should choose to stay at the club, in our view.

If City win the title and the FA Cup this season, they would have done so under the 33-year-old’s captaincy.

Next season, which is Pep Guardiola’s last season at City, unless he decides to renew his contract will be another campaign where they will be favourites to win the double at least.

In the Champions League as well, the English side will be fancied as one of the biggest contenders.

Having the chance to win more major trophies as City skipper should tempt Walker; an opportunity he might not get at Bayern, where an experienced head like Neuer is their captain.

To win major trophies is one thing but to win multiple in different seasons as the captain of such a huge club and one of the best teams in the modern era would do wonders for his legacy.

Lastly, it would be viewed as a brilliant gesture from the club’s fanbase if Kyle Walker chooses to stay in the following season if Pep Guardiola has privately decided that it may be his last at the Etihad Stadium; helping the Sky Blues before they foray into their next era.
