Exclusive: Liverpool told ‘brilliant’ midfielder will be ‘even better’ with Arne Slot next season

Rousing the Kop has spoken exclusively to Arne Slot’s former teammate and colleague, who predicted that Liverpool’s 23-year-old midfielder will be ‘even better’ under him.

It looks like the future is settled. Arne Slot will be Liverpool’s new manager. The 45-year-old has been picked out as the man to replace Jurgen Klopp.

It’s a choice that may come as a surprise to many. However, it’s a choice that also seems like a really smart decision from FSG and Michael Edwards.

Slot is a likeable character, with a similar sense of humour to Klopp. He also plays an exciting brand of football, that has proven to be very successful not only in the Eredivisie but in Europe as well.

How Arne Slot will bring the best out of Dominik Szoboszlai

Rousing the Kop has spoken to former Ajax and AZ Alkmaar coach Julian Jenner in an exclusive interview. Jenner worked at AZ Alkmaar while Slot was at the club, and he was also teammates with him while they were players at NAC Breda.

Jenner backed Slot to succeed. And he’s also backed Dominik Szoboszlai to flourish under the Dutchman’s system.

“I think he will be even better than he is now,” Jenner said. “He’s going to have a coach who likes to play in the opponent’s half and be very creative.

“He makes a plan for his central defenders and his back line has two holding midfielders, which frees up the attacking midfielder to play with freedom, and to be intelligent and creative.

“Szoboszlai is a very creative player. You can see already how he takes on his own [the responsibility] in the Hungarian national team. He does everything basically alone. He scores goals, he creates chances and he leads the team.

“I think he will play a big part in his [Slot’s] team next season.”

Why there is much more to come from Dominik Szoboszlai

During the beginning of the season, Szoboszlai showed in flashes just why he was so highly rated prior to arriving at Anfield.

ESPN pundit Steven Nicol described him as a ‘phenomenal’ player. Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock called him ‘brilliant.’

However, in recent weeks his form has dipped a little bit. That is to be expected. Szoboszlai is still a young player and it’s his first season in the Premier League.

However, just like Jenner has predicted, we believe there is much more to come from the Hungarian.
