'Never have I heard': John Hartson was blown away with what the Celtic fans did for Lubomir Moravcik yesterday

Over the past few decades, the Celtic fans have been blessed with witnessing some of the best footballers on the planet grace the Parkhead turf.

The clear and obvious one is Henrik Larsson. The King of Kings is a player you could bracket as a genuine world-class striker.

You only need to look at his achievements with Celtic and Sweden before he went on to win the Champions League with Barcelona.

Larsson also enjoyed a spell at Manchester United where Alex Ferguson said at the time he would have done ‘anything’ to keep the Swedish striker at the club.

Then there was Chris Sutton, John Hartson, Moussa Dembele and Jota to name but a few others we had had the pleasure of watching in the green and white hoops.

But at a Celtic supporters function last night, Hartson admits that he has never witnessed what the Celtic fans did when Lubomir Moravcik walked onto the stage.

Hartson never seen ‘love’ like he saw from Celtic fans for Lubo

Lubo was an absolute superstar for Celtic. For fans of my vintage, we will all remember Moravcik coming to Celtic as a relatively unknown quantity.

Quite quickly after watching him in his first outings at Celtic, we all knew that Dr Jo Venglos had unearthed a 33-year-old gem and Lubo became an almost overnight hero for the Celtic fans.

And that was recognised by John Hartson as he shared the love the 58-year-old former Celtic hero received at a supporters function last night on X.

Winning two league titles, a Scottish Cup and two League Cups, it’s incredible to think that with the amount of talent Moravcik had, he had only won one trophy throughout his career in the Intertoto Cup with Bastia in 1997.

It’s superb to see that even after all this time he is still held in high regard by the Celtic fans because, like the Hoops support, Moravcik truly was special.
