What Andre Onana did for Rasmus Hojlund in the Burnley clash is extremely concerning

Manchester United drew again in the Premier League, this time with Vincent Kompany and his Burnley side.

It was, again, a rather lacklustre performance at Old Trafford from the Red Devils. Erik ten Hag‘s side just never really got going.

It was an Antony strike that was United’s only goal on the night. Despite Burnley being relegation candidates, chances were actually few and far between.

In particular, Manchester United talisman Rasmus Hojlund didn’t have a sniff the entire fixture, which is becoming a regular occurrence as of late.

Rasmus Hojlund off target again

After his first goal since February on Wednesday against Sheffield United, Hojlund couldn’t make it two in two against the Clarets.

In fact – he was seriously poor in this Premier League fixture. It’s safe to say that Burnley do not exactly have the finest of defenders, but they dealt with the Dane very well all match long.

He just couldn’t seem to get involved, which is reflected in his stats on the day.

  • 65 minutes played
  • 0 goals
  • 0 assists
  • 0 shots
  • 3/6 accurate passes (50%)
  • 1 chance created
  • 14 touches

Not a great showing from Rasmus. But was it his fault? What Andre Onana did for him in the fixture indicates probably not.

Rasmus Hojlund starved of service

With just 14 touches all game, it’s safe to say that the 21-year-old was not found by his Manchester United teammates as many times as he probably should’ve been in the Premier League fixture.

Despite having the creative machine in Bruno Fernandes, Hojlund did not have any opportunities to get a shot on goal. In fact, it was none of his outfield teammates who could find him – not just the club captain.

This is shown by the fact that Holjund received more passes (4) from Onana than any other player on the pitch.

Diogo Dalot got three, Fernandes got two and Harry Maguire and Christian Eriksen both got one. Worryingly, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony registered zero. The players who were closest to him on the pitch.

It needs to improve. You cant spend £64m on a striker to end up isolating him. Manchester United’s creative outlets need to do better in finding their frontman.
