'I'll be honest': Robbie Fowler gives his truthful opinion about Arne Slot becoming Liverpool manager

Arne Slot looks likely to be the next manager of Liverpool, and Robbie Fowler has shared his honest thoughts about the appointment.

Arne Slot’s appointment has come a little out of the blue for Liverpool. In typical Michael Edwards fashion, the news broke from nowhere and things rapidly accelerated within the space of a few hours.

Merely 24 hours before Slot emerged as the favourite,Liverpool seemed like they still had their sights set on Ruben Amorim.

However, very quickly after that, Slot became the favourite, and the rest is history now.It seems almost inevitable that Slot will be the successor to Jurgen Klopp’s throne at Anfield.

Robbie Fowler on his honest thoughts about Arne Slot

As appointments go, Slot seems like a brilliant successor to Klopp’s throne. He has got charisma and an exciting brand of attacking football.

But he will also be very unfamiliar to most of the British football audience. Few outside of European experts and Dutch people will have heard of him, and that means he will arrive with question marks.

Writing in the Daily Mirror, Liverpool legend, Robbie Fowler, opened up about his honest thoughts on Slot’s appointment.

“I’ll be honest, I hadn’t a clue Slot was even in the conversation among the power brokers who run Liverpool,” Fowler wrote.

“He wasn’t someone who jumped out at me as a candidate. In fact, I knew nothing about Slot at all or the way he plays and, probably like many people, I dived into Google to check him out.

“He’s done OK at Feyenoord the last couple of seasons, but only time will tell if he can take Liverpool to greater heights than Klopp managed. That will be a tall order, but the more pressing problem for Liverpool is getting some stability back into players feeling the effects of Jurgen’s imminent departure. They’ve had nearly nine years of Klopp at Liverpool and suddenly everything is about to change.”

Can Arne Slot succeed at Liverpool?

The answer has to be yes. Slot has a brilliant track record, and he’s got all the tools to be a success at Liverpool.

Michael Edwards hasn’t really made any blunders when it comes to his recruitment of players as the club’s sporting director in the past. Now you have to back him to do the same recruiting the club’s next manager.

On paper and based on the data, Edwards has seemingly done a stellar job. Only time will tell though just how good this appointment will be.
