'I'll go': Jeremie Frimpong says Man City have a player who is actually better than Gabriel Martinelli

Jeremie Frimpong has claimed that Manchester City have a better player on their books than Gabriel Martinelli.

Since joining Arsenal in 2019, Martinelli has largely gone from strength to strength.

Last season, the 22-year-old scored 15 goals in the Premier League, emerging as one of the division’s most in-form players.

In the campaign before that, Martinelli scored six goals and registered six assists in the league.

However, at the time, the highly-rated winger was quite inexperienced and had started 21 games in the league.

But this season has seen the former Ituano forward undergo the biggest dip in form in his senior career.

Frimpong says City have a player who is better than Martinelli

In addition, an injury further stopped him in his tracks.

One of the players at City who is comparable to Gabriel Martinelli in terms of the position he plays in is Jack Grealish.

Grealish and Martinelli as vastly different as left-wingers.

The former is more of a midfielder who is playing out wide while the latter is an outlet.

While Grealish has had his fair share of critics this season, he has been in brilliant form recently and perhaps the same cannot be said about Martinelli.

However, City have another winger who is actually far more similar in his direct approach to the FA Cup winner.

That is Jeremy Doku, who Jeremie Frimpong told GOAL [via TikTok] is a better winger than not just Gabriel Martinelli but also Luis Diaz.

“I’ll go Jeremy Doku”, he said as he was picking an XI from the title challengers.

Doku certainly has had a better season than the Arsenal winger

Considering Jeremie Frimpong was picking a team on form, in our view, it was only right he opted for Jeremy Doku over Gabriel Martinelli.

On form, Doku has been praised for doing things Martinelli has in previous campaigns; his dribbling, fearlessness and electric impact on games.

Historically, the Arsenal winger has had an edge over the £55.5 million man due to having been brilliant at the highest level for some years.

But Jeremy Doku has shown that he could cause a nightmare for full-backs like Jeremie Frimpong this season, as opposed to Gabriel Martinelli, whose dribbling and overall impact has regressed.
