Lucas Paqueta now sends heartfelt response to Bruno Guimaraes after Newcastle message

Bruno Guimaraes was clearly in an emotional mood for Newcastle United on Saturday.

The midfielder has always been rather open about his love for the reception he gets off Newcastle fans and that was no different after he scored in the 5-1 win over Sheffield United at St James’ Park.

Guimaraes and Joelinton were the subject of a banner from the excellent Wor Flags group reading: “From Aliança and Rio to Newcastle upon Tyne, a home away from home. Joelinton and Bruno, our Brazilian Geordies.”

As a result, he thanked the supporters for their efforts and vowed to never forget the banner.

Guimaraes, of course, may be coming towards the end of his time at Newcastle.

Ideally, supporters wouldn’t have to even entertain the notion of one of the club’s star players leaving after a difficult campaign.

Still, Eddie Howe has confirmed the presence of a release clause in his contract, so the matter is out of Newcastle’s hands.

Guimaraes himself has constantly talked about his desire to stay, although it remains to be seen if that really is the case should an offer from a Champions League club emerge.

For now, however, it seems as if the midfielder is more than happy with where he is.

After the game against the Blades, he took to Instagram and good friend Lucas Paqueta responded.

Lucas Paqueta sends heartfelt message to Bruno Guimaraes

The West Ham star has often sent messages of support on social media to Guimaraes.

The Newcastle star wrote: “In indescribable feeling I was able to experience this afternoon. Gratitude, love, respect, and partnership. My greatest victory is being a Geordie on the field. Representing you, the fans, on the field is what keeps me focused and always striving for my best.

“Happy for the affection you’ve always shown me and for being able to represent my country in Newcastle. Onwards to more.”

Paqueta then responded: “You deserve all this recognition and respect my friend, those who know you know how dedicated you are to giving your best! I love you.”

Bruno Guimaraes could soon drop major hint about Newcastle future

It will be fascinating to see how Guimaraes behaves against Brighton at St James’ on Saturday 11 May.

If he were to leave the club this summer, that would be his final home game with the club. While that is a scary thought, it’s worth seeing how the midfielder acts after it.

An emotional farewell to the season might indicate he will be playing his football elsewhere next year…
