Gary Neville was impressed with one Arsenal star’s performance today against Tottenham in the north London derby.

The Gunners secured one of their biggest wins of the season in a tense and dramatic 3-2 victory against Spurs, with three goals in the first half enough to wrap up the points for Mikel Arteta’s side in the Premier League title race.

Despite a shaky end to the match, Arsenal managed to hold on and extend their lead at the top of the standings to four points, with Manchester City due to play Nottingham Forest at the City Ground later today.

Neville praises Leandro Trossard after Arsenal display vs Tottenham

Speaking on Sky Sports coverage of the match, Neville was impressed with Leandro Trossard’s defensive display for Arsenal, with the Belgian again starting out on the left for the north London side.

With one successful tackle and a pass success rate of 92%, it was an impressive shift on the other side of the pitch from Trossard, with Neville saying when the winger was brought off: “He has put a shift in, Trossard, defensively.”

Trossard again proved his worth for Arsenal today

Trossard endured what might have been his quietest game yet for Arsenal this year in terms of attacking output, yet the forward showed why he is such a valuable member to Arteta’s squad this season.

The 29-year-old’s defensive display was impressive for a player who isn’t often seen tracking back, yet Trossard delivered a fine performance in one of the biggest and most tense matches of the season for Arsenal.

Indeed, Trossard can be proud of his performance today for Arsenal, and heading into upcoming games, the Belgian could be used to drop deeper to assist with the defence if needed.
