Arkansas cornerback Dwight McGlothern has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Minnesota Vikings, per report.

McGlothern transferred to Arkansas from LSU ahead of the 2022 season and had an impressive showing right out of the gate. He totaled a career-high 52 tackles and four interceptions as a junior. In 2023, he posted 20 tackles while missing time. He still managed to notch three interceptions and a forced fumble.

Prior to transferring to Arkansas, McGlothern had 31 tackles for LSU during the 2021 season. He also tacked on another interception and forced fumble. In four seasons in college, he tallied eight interceptions and four forced fumbles.

As a member of the Class of 2020, McGlothern was a four-star recruit out of Klein Oak (Spring) High School, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 40 overall prospect in the state of Texas, the No. 26 cornerback in the class and the No. 277 overall prospect in the class.

While with the Razorbacks, McGlothern helped the team reach a 7-6 record in 2022 before a drop off to 4-8 in 2023. As a junior, he was part of the team that beat Kansas 55-53 in the triple-overtime Liberty Bowl game. In that game, McGlothern had 10 total tackles, a tackle for loss and an interception.

What NFL Draft analysts are saying about Dwight McGlothern

As far as what he’ll look like in the NFL, NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein believes he has high upside for a late-round pick.

“Ball-hawking cornerback with the eyes, instincts and ball skills to flip the field against careless quarterbacks,” Zierlein writes. “McGlothern can press a little bit and handle some man coverage. However, he might be at his best in zone coverages, where he can scan the field and play chess with the route combinations and quarterbacks.

“He overlaps coverage areas to make plays on the football and has Cover 3 cornerback written all over him. McGlothern is passive as a run defender, which will slide him down the board for some teams. He possesses average speed and athleticism, but the skills are there to label him a Day 3 prospect with upside.”
