'No one should ever': Alan Shearer says £51m Man City star should simply never be doubted in 2-0 win vs Forest

Alan Shearer has stated that a certain Manchester City player should not be doubted as the visitors beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 at the County Ground.

City have done the league double over Forest while winning both games 2-0 this season.

Arsenal piled the pressure on to Pep Guardiola’s men by securing a 3-2 win against Tottenham Hotspur.

At the time, Mikel Arteta’s side had extended their lead to four points over them at the top of the Premier League.

But the Sky Blues responded in true champions’ fashion, as they defeated Nuno Espirito Santo’s side and cut down the gap to one point again while having a game in hand.

However, the game was far from straightforward for the treble-winners on Sunday.

Shearer says “no one should ever” doubt City player in Forest win

Nottingham Forest determined to make a statement early doors, as Ola Aina went on a darting run and almost set up a Chris Wood opener within seconds of the start of the game before Josko Gvardiol blocked his attempt at goal.

However, Forest took the game to City.

The hosts were particularly dominant in duels, which allowed them to regain possession and target Manchester City’s right-hand side when trying to hit them on the break.

Forest’s approach was working before Josko Gvardiol opened the scoring from a corner.

However, Nottingham Forest remained fearless but their poor finishing let them down.

While City hung in during the game.

However, Manchester City were handed a two-goal cushion by Erling Haaland against Nottingham Forest, which promoted Alan Shearer to write on X, “No one should ever doubt him or his record.”

The Newcastle United legend responded to journalist Henry Winter, who initially wrote on X, “Best finisher in the country. Haaland [is] not having the best season by his stellar standards but he’s the leading scorer [in the Premier League].”

“Bizarre that he gets doubted. Quick feet to open up the opportunity, incredible hunger for goals. Aptitude/attitude so strong.”

The £51 million man replaced Jack Grealish off the bench and scored a lovely goal, shimmying past Murillo before guiding the ball into the back of the net with his weak foot.

Alan Shearer is right about Erling Haaland

As Alan Shearer stated, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland should never be doubted, as he showed against Nottingham Forest.

Haaland is one of the best players in the world, a one-of-a-kind number nine and one who has raised the bar since bursting onto the scene; which he will continue to do until he hangs up his boots.

The Norwegian has enough credit in the bank for the masses to lay off him when he has a couple of off days.

Had Haaland not scored against Forest, perhaps City could have dropped points but the big players revel when their team need them to deliver.

Erling Haaland certainly did for Manchester City against Nottingham Forest and proved Alan Shearer right.
