US presidential candidate Donald Trump may choose North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum as his vice president, according to Axios.

According to four Axios sources, Gov. Doug Burgum is rapidly moving up the list of possible Trump vice presidential candidates. The presidential candidate's team believes that Burgum can help win the support of so-called moderate voters.

The growing interest in Burgum, according to Axios, has become noticeable in recent weeks. Trump began to frequently mention Burgum in discussions with his supporters, and also invited him and his wife to an Easter brunch at the Mar-a-Lago residence.

According to Axios' sources, Trump likes Burgum's balanced behavior and his experience as a governor. In addition, the presidential candidate considers Burgum reliable. Burgum, as Axios notes, is similar to Mike Pence, who was vice president during Trump's presidency in 2017-2021.

In addition, Burgum has openly supported Trump on many issues, including abortion rights. Burgum also "quietly" campaigns for Trump, in particular, by appearing on conservative and mainstream TV channels.

US presidential election

The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5, 2024. The election will feature incumbent President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

At the end of March, Biden was ahead of Trump in polls for the first time since August last year. Read RBC-Ukraine's article on how Biden can win the US election.

Trump's rating is not far behind Biden's. However, the former US president has an ambiguous position on Ukraine. Trump even tried to block American aid to Ukraine, but eventually came out in support of it. RBC-Ukraine has been investigating whether Trump has changed his attitude towards Ukraine and the war.
