Arne Slot could finally bring the best out of ‘outstanding’ Liverpool midfielder next season

There’s a midfielder who could finally play his best football for Liverpool under Arne Slot next season.

Arne Slot may be similar to Jurgen Klopp, but he is not identical. The way he sets up his team varies a little bit to the way Klopp wants his team to play.

One of the most notable differences is in the way Slot sets up his midfield. Slot likes to use either a diamond or triangle midfield.

He is known for using both a single and a double pivot. But the key difference is not the role of his holding midfielders or midfielders. It’s the role of the more advanced player or players in front.

In Slot’s system, when he’s playing with a double pivot, he normally has a more advanced attacking playmaker ahead of them. When it’s just a single pivot, he normally has two attacking midfielders pressing forward.

Why Fabio Carvalho could flourish under Arne Slot

This attacking midfielder role could be really beneficial for someone like Fabio Carvalho. The reason why he just didn’t quite fit in under Jurgen Klopp had nothing to do with his talent.

It had everything to do with the player he is. He just wasn’t a traditional box-to-box midfielder, and neither was he capable of playing on the wing, which is a very demanding position under Klopp.

However, in Slot’s system, Carvalho is very well suited to playing that attacking midfielder or number ten role.

Which is why I wouldn’t write off his Liverpool career just yet. Slot could be the man to finally revive it and bring the best out of him.

How is Fabio Carvalho doing on loan at Hull City

Carvalho currently has seven goal contributions in his last seven matches for Hull City (five goals and two assists).

In total, he has 11 goal contributions in 19 matches for the club so far, and has really found his confidence again playing some of his best football.

At Liverpool during his first six months at the club, Carvalho showed glimpses of potential. Now it will be a fresh start for him this summer. He can use his experience at Hull as a way to galvanise himself ahead of pre-season.

His shirt is still to play for at Liverpool. There are no questions about that. Even Klopp himself described him as an ‘outstanding’ prospect. Now it’s time for him to show that in Liverpool colours.
