'You don't even know': Sean Dyche hints at further unknown behind-the-scenes trouble at Everton throughout this season

Everton achieved safety with three Premier League games to go at the weekend, as they cruised to a comfortable victory over Brentford to leapfrog them in the table.

It marked their fourth straight home triumph, all of which have been won to nil.

Turning around such torrid form at Goodison Park to record four famous wins on the spin was completely unforeseen, but Sean Dyche had been insisting that such a run was just around the corner.

They just now how to make it dramatic for us!

However, just because safety has been assured for another season does not mean the problems at this club are set to vanish.

But the reality of the situation is that we don’t know the half of it, as he eludes to here.

The former Burnley man hints at further unrest that he has had to deal with, and whilst he wants to keep it private, one day we will learn the truth about what has been one of the most restless, uncomfortable campaigns in the club’s history.

Dyche claimed: ‘The reason why it’s my best season as a manager is because you don’t even know the half of it. Some of it is private, some of it is best kept away.

‘It’s a different animal [to managing Burnley]. The expectation is different. You have to take the knocks. I’ve taken a few, the players have taken a few and the club have taken a few.’

The toughest Everton season ever?

Whilst they have certainly come closer to dropping into the Championship, with the last two seasons going down to the penultimate and the final day of the campaign, it still feels like this was their toughest yet.

After all, despite the veritable lack of quality at the bottom of the table, with Luton Town, Burnley and Sheffield United having all disappointed, to suffer two seperate points deductions and still soar to safety with such ease is sensational.

And that’s without mentioning how the Premier League actually wanted to take more from Everton, lobbying for 12 and five-point sanctions rather than the six and two they eventually got.

Such unrelenting PSR turmoil has scuppered all progress the club sought to make, and on top of that, the drama involving their takeover has only added to the unrest.

The Premier League’s reluctance to just deny 777 Partners, instead stringing them along for seven months now, has done little to aid stability at Goodison Park.

To trudge through all that turmoil and come out having avoided the drop deserves plenty of credit, with Dyche the sparkling architect.
