'Massive handful': Ian Wright left so impressed by two Wolves stars in particular, after win over Luton

Wolves got back to winning ways on Saturday in the Premier League, beating Luton Town 2-1 at Molineux – and Ian Wright has hailed two stars.

Wanderers had been six-game winless run in the competition heading into the contest, and it was important for Gary O’Neil‘s side to stop the rot against the Hatters.

Rob Edwards’ team are fighting for their Premier League lives, and this was therefore a very big opportunity for three points.

Thankfully, Wolves put in a great performance and came away with the victory, with Hwang Hee-chan and Toti Gomes the goalscorers.

Hwang – after seeing a goal controversially chalked off in midweek Bournemouth – was on target for the first time this calendar year, and Toti grabbed his first league goal of the season.

On Match of the Day, Ian Wright picked out two Wolves players for praise…

Wolves have now moved onto 46 points and are still in the mix to finish eighth in the league. At the moment, West Ham sit there on 48 points.

Wolves are giving themselves a chance, although Chelsea have a couple of games in hand on the teams around them.

Fans were delighted to see Hwang and Matheus Cunha both starting on Saturday.

The pair have both had injury problems in 2024, and O’Neil has been unable to unleash them and Wolves have lacked that same threat up top in recent weeks.

But on Saturday they were finally able to feature together – and Wright liked what he saw. He said during his analysis on Match of the Day: “Having these two front men, first time they have played together this year, both in double figures, both a massive handful for teams.

“You can see they’re quite close together, this is good closing down from him (Hwang). This is what you want from them right from the start, closing down, they’ve got the pace to get in behind.”

Hwang and Cunha a nightmare to play against

It was great to see Hwang and Cunha both back starting together for Wolves – as the duo just improve the team immensely.

It has been a struggle for Wanderers over the last couple of months, and the team really suffered when they were both out at the same time.

Wolves look far more threatening with the pace and quality of Hwang and Cunha. But not only that, they both work their socks off.

Who knows where Wolves might be in the table now if they had both managed to stay fit. Hopefully, they can both now help Wanderers to finish the season strongly, which has tended not to be the case since Wolves came back up to the Premier League,
