'Happy': Callum McGregor delivers verdict on his fitness after Celtic beat Dundee

Celtic captain, Callum McGregor, has delivered his verdict on his fitness after beating Dundee yesterday afternoon.

McGregor has been slowly returning to the Celtic first-team after picking up an injury that saw him miss four games earlier this season as Brendan Rodgers welcomed back important first-team players like Reo Hatate and Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Returning on the bench at Ibrox, McGregor looked like a player who needed minutes in his legs and after getting another hour today at Dens Park alongside his time at Hampden against Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup, the Celtic captain sounded positive in his post-match Dundee interview.

McGregor ‘happy’ with how Celtic fitness is progressing

The Hoops captain sounded fairly positive when asked on Sky Sports how he was feeling and if he felt he had to manage his return to Celtic first-team duties after the Dens Park 2-1 win.

McGregor said [Sky Sports], “Yeah, getting there. So just keep working hard again this week and hopefully get more minutes next week.

“We’ll just how we go week by week. I just keep trying to get fitter and pain-free and keep moving and then see where we get to.

“So I am happy to be out there and helping the team as much as I can.”

With massive games against Hearts and Rangers coming up as well as away fixtures to Kilmarnock and St Mirren, Brendan Rodgers will need his captain fully fit and ready as the title run in hots up.

With Celtic and Rangers both picking up maximum points this weekend despite their cagey performances, it looks like it will be a case of who blinks first will lose the league.

With McGregor back in the side, the Celtic fans will be more confident that it won’t be their team that drops points as the games tick down towards the end of the season.
