Fabrizio Romano shares what Liverpool’s first priority will be in the summer transfer window under Arne Slot

According to Fabrizio Romano, this will be Liverpool’s first priority in the summer transfer window under Arne Slot.

With Arne Slot looking almost certain to be Liverpool’s next manager, there is now more clarity at Liverpool. Something that will be essential as the club heads into the summer transfer window.

It’s going to be a busy summer ahead for Liverpool. It will be the first summer without Jurgen Klopp in charge for almost a decade.

It’s also going to be the first summer under the new leadership team of Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, as well as of course, Slot himself.

Changes in the playing squad given such a huge turnover in terms of staff, with a lot of Klopp’s backroom leaving with him, is going to be inevitable.

Fabrizio Romano on Liverpool’s first priority under Arne Slot

There might be a few new arrivals at Anfield, and a few new departures. It will be interesting to see where Liverpool decide to strengthen.

At this moment in time, it feels like one of the most vulnerable positions in the team is in holding midfield. Wataru Endo may have done well this season, but he cannot be considered a long-term option.

Other vulnerabilities for Liverpool could be in the centre-back area. With Joel Matip looking certain to leave, the Reds will definitely have to reinforce the team in that position as well.

Taking to his X account, Fabrizio Romano has now shared that he thinks the priority for Liverpool will be a centre-back.

Which centre-back could Liverpool target in the summer transfer window?

There are plenty of enticing options for Liverpool in the centre-back market. Tosin Adarabioyo at Fulham seems like a good option, and he’s available on a free transfer.

Another one could be Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. Meanwhile, outside the Premier League the likes of Ousmane Diomande and Davick Hancko could also be options for Liverpool.

Only time will tell who Liverpool will decide to go for.
