'It doesn't look good': Pep Guardiola says £35m Man City player might have suffered a serious injury now

After Manchester City defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 on Sunday, Pep Guardiola confirmed that one of his players’ injuries might be serious.

That is far from ideal for Guardiola, especially with four games in the Premier League title run-in and an FA Cup final still to play for.

Perhaps it has not been discussed enough how many injuries City have been dealt with this season because of how they have dealt with them.

If City’s title aspirations or dreams to retain the FA Cup were affected due to their injury woes, more discourse would likely have followed.

However, Manchester City are still in contention to win the double, despite having missed the likes of Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones to injuries during various spells.

Guardiola says Man City player’s injury “doesn’t look good”

Some might say that is down to City having a massive squad.

However, that remains one of football’s biggest myths.

In fact, the Sky Blues have one of the smallest squads in the Premier League, perhaps due to Guardiola prioritising giving as much game time to as many players as possible.

In a bigger squad than what City have, several players are likely to be miffed because they have not played sufficient minutes.

However, that does not seem to be the case at the Etihad Stadium.

But after somewhat of an injury update has been provided by Guardiola, they will have to use their squad.

The injury Ederson Moraes against Nottingham Forest might be serious, according to Pep Guardiola.

“It doesn’t look, it doesn’t look good. We will see tomorrow with the doctors but it doesn’t look”, Guardiola said about Ederson [via BeanymanSports].

The £35 million man seemingly suffered an arm injury against Forest as he tried to rush off his line to claim an incoming corner and he was barged into.

As a result, the Brazilian international was taken off for Stefan Ortega at the City Ground.

Frustrating for Ederson, not really for Guardiola

While Pep Guardiola has not provided a timeline for when Ederson Moraes will be fit to play, it seems like there is a possibility that his season could be over.

Guardiola might not be overly worried about Ederson potentially missing several games as he can rely on Ortega to do a reliable job in between the sticks once again this campaign.

But for Ederson, who suffered an injury and missed several games already this season, he would be hoping that he can start in at least some matches during the title run-in and eventually, the FA Cup final.

Injuries have been unkind to the decorated goalkeeper, who is having yet another impressive season in net for City.
