Exclusive: Man City ready to offer 'world class' player a move to the Etihad, he's a big fan of Pep Guardiola

Joshua Kimmich’s long-term future at Bayern Munich remains unclear with Manchester City maintaining an interest in the German star, TBR Football understands.

City have long been linked with the 29-year-old – who has just over 12-months left on his current deal at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern are keen to extend Kimmich’s contract, as they still see him as a key performer – indeed German national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s considers him ‘world-class’.

TBR can confirm that Manchester City are ready to make a move for him this summer – but his future is set to be determined by Bayern as their choice of a new head coach will dictate whether Kimmich wants to stay or not.

Our sources confirm that Kimmich told Bayern in January that he would look to leave the club this summer – but since then Thomas Tuchel’s departure has been confirmed and they remain hopeful he will stay and extend his contract – which expires in 2025.

City are long-term admirers of Kimmich, who has also been linked with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Joshua Kimmich admits Pep Guardiola admiration

And the fact Pep Guardiola is at City – could very well be the trump card for the Premier League champions.

Ralf Rangnick is firm favourite to take charge at Bayern – as TBR has revealed – and Kimmich has admitted that he has admiration for him, like Guardiola.

Speaking to Spanish daily AS he admits: “I don’t know him as a coach. I had him as a sports manager during that time at Leipzig. He was really powerful there. He is very important for my career, like Pep.”

Kimmich admits that his future will be dependent on who succeeds Tuchel.

“Of course this is a really interesting question for myself. But it is not the most important thing for me right now. I know that when you sign a contract, you don’t sign it with the coach.

“You sign it with the club. For me as a player the most important thing is the club, not only the coach. But of course it is also important to know what the coach thinks about you and the team. We have some guys at the club who are taking care of this topic.”

Asked about staying in Munich, he added: “Of course I want to speak to Bayern. And when I do that, I won’t go out and speak to the press about it.”
