Arne Slot’s first Liverpool transfer could be versatile 23-year-old, he wants to join the club

Liverpool could be exploring the market to sign a versatile 23-year-old who wants to join the club as Arne Slot’s first transfer.

Arne Slot will be coming in as a head-coach not as a manager of Liverpool. This won’t make too much of a difference. However, it’s a significant change in responsibility.

Under Jurgen Klopp, who was Liverpool’s manager, the German had control of who he wanted to bring in and sign.

Slot will likely wield less influence in that regard. The 45-year-old Dutchman will instead merely consult with Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, who will have more responsibility to bring in new recruitments.

Why Lutsharel Geertruida makes sense as Liverpool’s first transfer under Arne Slot

Even though Slot will not have too much control in who Liverpool bring in, one player who he has worked with and who could definitely be on the club’s radar is Lutsharel Geertruida.

The 23-year-old defender is his current captain at Feyenoord, and he’s highly regarded for his versatility.

Geertruida can play as a right-back and as a left-back. He’s also been used as a centre-back and has even stepped up to play as a holding midfielder in the past.

That versatility makes him an attractive prospect for Liverpool and someone who could really fit into Slot’s squad.

The latest reports on Lutsharel Geertruida

On top of that, it seems that Geertruida himself would be very open to moving to Anfield. According to a report by the Dutch Telegraaf, Geertruida would love to join Arne Slot at Liverpool.

Whether Edwards and Hughes would love the idea of signing him as well remains to be seen. Geertruida is definitely an interesting profile.

He could be a good addition to the squad, but Liverpool do have some other priorities to sort out first. Such as finding another centre-back and a holding midfielder.
