Jacob Steinberg shares devastating new West Ham manager update

A devastating new West Ham United manager update has just been shared by Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg.

Current West Ham boss David Moyes is quite clearly a dead man walking, and a recent report suggested that it’s likely he’ll be moved on at the end of the season.

That’s no surprise at all is it – the Hammers have been absolutely woeful in 2024, with just four wins in our last 22 outings in all competitions.

The main bone of contention that the West Ham fans have with Moyes is the turgid brand of football that he implements.

With that in mind, the key to moving on into an exciting new era will be appointing a manager who has a vastly differing style to the Scot.

And that’s why the latest update from Steinberg is so hard to swallow…

Devastating new West Ham manager update

As far as I’m concerned, the Hammers are a sleeping giant. Moyes has done a great job over the past few years in taking us on to another level.

However, the 61-year-old has now reached his ceiling in charge of West Ham, and I think it’s fairly obvious to see that he can’t take us any further.

So who is the right man to lead us on to the next level? It’s a toss up between Ruben Amorim and Paulo Fonsecsa in my opinion.

However, it seems as though we could be about to go down a different route to those two names…

According to the Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, West Ham are back in the mix to appoint Julen Lopetegui, after the former Wolves manager’s talks with AC Milan stalled.

Now, the Spaniard is a decent manager and a competent tactician.

However, he is a pragmatist my nature, and if I’m being honest there just isn’t that much difference between him and Moyes.

I would go as far as saying I would keep Moyes if the only other option is to replace him with Lopetegui.

The new West Ham manager needs to be a young coach with exciting and fresh ideas. Unfortunately, the 57-year-old Spaniard just doesn’t fit into that category.
