Many of you will already be familiar with Zach Woods. The American actor and comedian played Gabe Lewis on a handful of seasons of the hit TV sitcom The Office but has also starred in such shows as The Afterparty, Playing House, and then HBO shows such as Veep and Silicon Valley. Actor Zach Woods spoke with Elon Musk but had ‘no idea who he was’
Although Zach may have needed an introduction to some, Elon likely doesn’t. All the same, he’s the founder, chairman, CEO, and CTO of SpaceX, a company revolutionizing space technology. He’s also a billionaire and the second-richest man in the world.
Despite Elon’s monumental status, Zach once admitted when promoting a new season of Silicon Valley on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that he wasn’t even aware of him.
“Are you a tech person, do you know a lot about stuff like that?” Ellen asked Zach during their interview.

“I’m not, I’m so tech-illiterate,” he admitted. “I also didn’t know who any of these tech guys were. So the first premiere [of Silicon Valley] we had in San Francisco, after the premiere, someone was like ‘Hey, do you want to meet Elon?’
“And I was like ‘Who’s that?’ and they said ‘Elon Musk’ And I just—if you don’t know who Elon Musk is, Elon Musk just sounds like a crappy cologne or something,” he laughed.
“I had no idea who he was,” he confessed. “It was like, I guess this is just a fan who wants to meet me. So, I went over to him and I was like: ‘Hey, nice to meet you. I’m Zach. Do you live in San Francisco?'”
Yes, really.
Elon replied “Yeah,” and when Zach then asked him if he worked in tech, Elon hilariously and simply replied with another “Yeah.”
To that, Zach said: “Well, I know it’s a competitive industry, so I hope things go well for you.”
Ellen and the crowd couldn’t help but laugh at the embarrassing story.
“I didn’t know he was the man who is literally colonizing outer space,” Zach then joked, wrapping it up and shaking off the embarrassment like a pro.
‘The best thing I’ve heard all day’
Zach later shared the clip of his interview to TikTok with the caption: “I don’t know if Elon Musk knows who he is either.”
Fans and followers have weighed in, one commenting, “Zach Woods big leaguing Elon is the best thing I’ve heard all day.”
“I hope Elon Musk has more and more interactions like this,” another reacted.
“Elon was humbled that day,” one said, another impressed: “What a flex, to not know Elon but like, to his face.”
“How are you a main character in the show Silicon Valley and not know who he is?” somebody asked in disbelief.
