Police seek driver of pickup involved in hit-and-run that injured 2 pedestrians crossing N.J. highway

A motorist on a South Jersey highway struck a man and woman early Sunday morning, prompting a search for the vehicle after the driver failed to stop.

The man and woman were crossing Route 38 in Cherry Hill around 12:21 a.m. Sunday when they were hit by a dark-colored pickup truck, police said Monday.

The pedestrian’s injuries were not considered life threatening, police said, and both taken to an area hospital. It was unclear if they were walking together when they were struck.

Police said the man and woman were crossing Route 38 near Longwood Avenue when the westbound truck hit them. The intersection is near a shopping plaza that has a Walmart and several other stores. It’s also not far from Camden Catholic High School.

Police believe the pickup truck is either a Chevrolet or GMC model, and that the vehicle’s front driver-side area was damaged by the impact.
