'Wow': Bradley Wright-Phillips in awe by what Sergio Busquets did for Inter Miami vs New England

Bradley Wright-Phillips was left in awe by what Sergio Busquets did for Inter Miami this weekend against the New England Revolution.

The Herons were at their brilliant best on Saturday away in Massachusetts as a Lionel Messi-inspired Inter Miami claimed a comfortable 4-1 win against the Revs, extending their lead at the top of the MLS Supporters’ Shield.

With Messi breaking yet another MLS record on the night, it was a performance that sent another statement to teams in the division that Inter Miami are in full flow and are here to dominate the league with the roster of superstars.

Yet it was a moment from Busquets that has got pundits talking this week.

Busquets praised for ‘unbelievable’ assist to Messi in Inter Miami win vs New England

Speaking on MLS Wrap-Up, Wright-Phillips was left in sheer wonderment over Busquets’ assist to Messi, with the Spanish midfielder splitting the New England defense with a brilliant pass that set the Argentine on his way to an easy goal.

With Taylor Twellman also praising Busquets for his assist to Messi, it was a moment that many Inter Miami and MLS fans will remember for quite some time given the quality of the ball and the execution of the finish.

And for Wright-Phillips, the pundit admitted that he still isn’t sure how Busquets saw the pass to Messi against New England, with the 35-year-old midfielder now in full flow with Inter Miami this season.

Wright-Phillips said: “Just look at this, wow, I didn’t even see the pass watching from here, I still can’t see it on the replay and I’ve watched it ten times! You don’t expect this, the Revs don’t do too much wrong in this defensive play, that’s just an unbelievable pass.”

Busquets is now starting to become a real problem for MLS teams

Having scored his first Inter Miami goal last week, Busquets is now starting to show his world-class qualities that once made the former FC Barcelona midfielder one of the best in the game.

And this weekend’s pass to Messi was another example of why MLS teams now need to start fearing Busquets, who with time and space on the ball could be one of the most dangerous midfielders in the league.

Whilst the 35-year-old is hardly a goalscorer or assist machine, teams giving him so much room to operate could lead to Busquets becoming a source of goals for Inter Miami, an extra weapon that no MLS side wants to see.
