'We made sure': Conor Coady reveals what Leicester players did to turn form around to win Championship title

Leicester City were crowned Championship winners on Monday evening after securing a convincing 3-0 win at Preston North End.

Enzo Maresca‘s side were rampant at Deepdale, as Jamie Vardy netted a brace to take his tally to 20 league goals for the campaign.

Academy graduate Kasey McAteer headed home Abdul Fatawu‘s delicious teasing cross to round off the scoring.

The Foxes will lift the Championship title on Saturday when they play host to Blackburn Rovers at King Power Stadium.

A win will see them amass 100 points.

Leicester played with freedom in Lancashire and produced one of their most dominant away performances of the season.

The pressure was off and it showed, as Wout Faes went on multiple mazy runs. One ended up resulting in a shot cannoning off the post before Vardy tapped home.

Fatawu was at his electric best and recorded his 13th assist of the season, further evincing why City must secure his services this summer.

McAteer’s goal capped off a positive return to the side after a barren spell with injuries that have plagued his campaign.

It marked Leicester’s fifth win in their last seven games, which is a stark turnaround in form from their previous run of six defeats in 10.

Conor Coady reveals how Leicester City turned their form around

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Conor Coady revealed what Leicester players did to turn the form around to win the Championship title.

“We spoke, we spoke as a group. Listen it wasn’t good enough at that moment in time, so we spoke as a group, as honest individuals in the camp,” Coady admitted.

“We made sure we spoke and got the best out of each other.

“Listen, I think everybody thought we were going to cruise it in February, we had a 17 point (lead) or whatever it was.

“It was never ever going to be like that, we wanted people to dream and we are where we are now, it’s incredible.”

That player meeting that was called by Vardy has paid dividends for The Foxes and it further proved why the veteran forward must remain at the club for at least another year.

His leadership, along with the experienced players like Coady and Harry Winks, have got Maresca’s men over the line.

Job done.
