'Very impressive': Nottingham Forest pair and Jason Lee react as Ryan Yates brings up milestone

Nottingham Forest star Ryan Yates is a player who continues to divide opinion among the fan base but now he’s reached a big milestone.

The Reds captain wasn’t in the team again on Sunday and Nuno Espirito Santo didn’t pick him against Everton either.

He has still played 37 times in all competitions during 2023/24, however, and now he’s fetched up 200 appearances for the club.

Yates divides opinion and he has done so since stepping up from the academy ranks to play football for the first team.

Now, as the club celebrated his 200th appearance for the club, Joe Worrall, Jason Lee and Harry Toffolo all reacted on social media.

While the opinions are pretty divisive in the stands, there is no doubt among players of past and present that Yates is a useful asset.

After the club made the announcement on Yates, several comments were posted after he reached 200 appearances for the Reds.

First up was Worrall, who posted on X: “Congrats @RyanYates97 – a remarkable personal achievement. A top player and top man.”

Next up was Jason Lee on Instagram and he is also a big fan of Yates producing the goods in the Forest team.

He posted: “That’s impressive, young man! Proud of you!”

Finally, it was the turn of Toffolo – and he is one player who still shares a dressing room with Yates on a daily basis.

Toffolo has fallen down the pecking order a little bit of late but nonetheless, he’s still a big player in the Forest dressing room.

He said on Instagram: “What a human being – so much desire!”

Yates still trying to prove himself to his critics

It’s a bit of a strange one with Yates – and even after 200 games, he’s still trying to prove himself to some fans.

Ultimately, Yates is still trying to carve out a regular spot in the Premier League and he’s also awaiting a first goal in the top flight.

The 26-year-old still has some time on his side but one thing that most can be in agreement with is that Forest have better midfielders at the moment.

Certain games are tailor-made for Yates but others require the ball-playing qualities of Danilo and Nicolas Dominguez – with Ibrahim Sangare also in the squad.

It’s hard to knock Yates for his commitment, however, and 200 appearances is certainly no mean feat.

The challenge for the midfielder is to keep improving and try and prove himself as a player who is good enough to play regularly in the Premier League.
