'Critical incident' at London Tube station with man arrested after 'Samurai sword' stabbings

Emergency services have swarmed to the scene outside a Tube station in North-East London following reports of a 'stabbing' with a Samurai sword-style blade.

Wes Streeting, MP for Ilford North, said one male had been detained and a "critical incident" has been declared in Hainault.

Streeting said: "I would urge people not to speculate until details are confirmed or post footage on social media."

Redbridge Metropolitan Police Service said: "Police are at an incident in the Hainault area. Please follow the instructions of police officers on the ground. A man has been arrested."

Transport for London (TfL) said Hainault station was closed due to a police investigation in the area.

A witness told LBC: "There was loud shouting outside my road on Laing Close and a young boy stabbed another guy, then went towards the station. Not sure what happened there."

GB News has contacted the Metropolitan Police and the London Ambulance Service for comment.
