'He was brilliant': Kelvin Wilson was seriously impressed with £3m Nottingham Forest star on Sunday

Kelvin Wilson was left seriously impressed with one Nottingham Forest player against Manchester City on Sunday.

The Reds fought valiantly against the champions but lost to goals from Josko Gvardiol and Erling Haaland.

Forest are just a point above the relegation zone and the Reds know that they still have work to do in the final three games.

In fairness, however, this was a better performance and hadChris Wood not missed two really good chances, things might have been different.

Still, it was a strong performance and Forest do have positives ahead of next weekend’s must-win game against relegated Sheffield United.

There were a number of strong performances at the weekend – with Wilson picking one man out for praise in particular.

Kelvin Wilson seriously impressed by Forest star Callum Hudson-Odoi

Well, it’s been a pretty impressive season for Hudson-Odoi – but Wilson felt Sunday was his defining moment at Forest.

The player has been a regular in the team under Nuno Espirito Santo and clearly, he’s impressed the head coach.

Forest managed to sign Hudson-Odoi for just £3 million and that has represented sound recruitment.

Wilson was extremely impressed with the 23-year-old at the weekend and raved about him afterwards.

He told the Forest Focus podcast: “Callum Hudson-Odoi. I thought that was the best performance I’ve seen from him, it really was.

“He was really positive, you know, and he was even getting at Kyle Walker who is the best full-back in the world. He was brilliant.”

Hudson-Odoi has been outstanding signing

The club’s recruitment team sometimes gets a raw deal from supporters – and a number of bad signings over the years have given them a reputation.

However, in the summer of 2023, Forest were extremely savvy and that has been showcased with some astute additions.

Hudson-Odoi was one of those and after a somewhat slow start at Forest, he’s grown under more game time.

During the 2023/24 campaign, he’s bagged five goals and registered two assists as he’s tried to revive his career at the City Ground.

The exciting thing is that there is even more to come from Hudson-Odoi and hopefully, Forest can stay up and then watch the youngster kick on even further.
