Carlo Ancelotti says Man City have a £43m player who is just 'great'

Carlo Ancelotti has said that one particular Manchester City player is so good.

The 64-year-old has faced off against the Citizens twice this season in the quarter-final round of the Champions League.

After two draws, the Spanish side went through on penalties to secure their place in the semis.

Now though, the Real manager has responded to some comments from one figure in Pep Guardiola’s squad about the La Liga team.

Speaking to TNT Sports (via Daily Mail), Bernardo Silva had this to say about Ancelotti’s side and what it’s like to play against them.

He said: “Real Madrid are a weird team. Sometimes it seems like you have control of the game and out of nowhere, they run twice [on the counter] and score two goals because their players individually are very good.

“They are so fast and strong on the counter-attack that it is not easy to control them.

“If you attack with too many players, they run on the counter. If you don’t attack with many players, it feels like you’re not effective enough to attack them properly.

“So it is difficult to make these small decisions in the game.”

Speaking in his latest press conference ahead of tonight’s Champions League semi-final first-leg clash at Bayern Munich, Ancelotti had this to say about Silva and his comments on Real.

He said: “We are not strange. We are a team that can show the history of the past in this competition.

“There is nothing I have to say to Bernardo Silva.

“He is a great, gigantic player and last year they made it to the final and now it is up to us.”

Bernardo Silva is so important for City

This season has seen the midfielder, whom City paid £43m to sign back in 2017, start 38 of the 44 games he’s appeared in across all competitions.

Throughout those games, the 29-year-old has scored 11 goals and delivered six assists.

Having also been deployed in numerous midfield and attacking positions throughout the campaign, this further highlights how important Silva is for Guardiola and the team.

Even though the Italian may not agree with the City star’s assessment of his side, it’s still good to see that he recognises how much of a great player he is.
