‘He might want to go to Celtic’: 'Gifted' attacker tipped for Parkhead move

Celtic still have a lot of work left to do in the race for the Scottish Premiership title with just four games left to play.

A win at Dundee on Sunday bolstered Brendan Rodgers‘ lead at the top of the table and with Hearts to come at the weekend and Rangers in less than two weeks time, the Celtic manager has a lot of preparation ahead of him.

But he also has work ahead of him in the transfer window. Replacing Joe Hart is now a priority as the veteran Englishman hangs up his gloves in May.

Rodgers also needs to strengthen the left-back area and the centre of defence after Alexandro Bernabei and his £7m duo of Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke have all been found wanting.

The Celtic manager also has a headache up front as Adam Idah returns to Norwich City in the summer unless Rodgers decides to make his move permanent.

If not, there is another striker being touted for a Parkhead move that Rodgers has just been told could do a job for Celtic.

Celtic told to raid Bristol City for ‘gifted’ striker

Rotherham manager, Steve Evans, has been talking up Bristol City’s Tommy Conway and his own love for Celtic when he said that the 21-year-old Scotland u21 international would be a great signing for the Hoops.

Evans said [Daily Record], “The last player I recommended Celtic should sign, when I got a call from the manager, was the boy who went from MK Dons who’s now worth multi-millions.

“I see a lot of Celtic – they’re the only club other than Rotherham that I’d have left Stevenage for – and if you’re asking me, could Conway play at Celtic? Absolutely. Get in the car and go today, he could play there.

“But he’s also at a very good football club here with lots to achieve and if I was Liam Manning I’d be saying to the board, ‘We need to keep players like that, if we’re genuinely going to challenge for the Premier League.’

“He might want to go to Celtic, but you can’t (let him), he’s a gifted boy.”

Conway hit the headlines this season after helping knock David Moyes‘ West Ham out of the FA Cup.

Scoring twice against The Hammers, Conway earned the Ashton Gate club a replay after equalising at the London Stadium.

It was Conway’s goal that knocked West Ham out in the third-round replay and put his name out there as one to watch for the future.

In 103 appearances for Bristol City, the 21-year-old has scored 29 times. A double in the Carabao Cup also helped knock out Coventry City who ran Manchester United close in the FA Cup semi-final last week. [Transfermarkt]

He is in red-hot form this season after scoring his twelfth goal of the season at the weekend and it is clear he has a bright future in the game.
