Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-GA) bid to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) appears to have crashed and burned and many of her Republican colleagues couldn't be happier about it.

In interviews with Axios, several House Republicans expressed confidence that Greene's crusade to end Johnson's speakership was dead, especially after multiple House Democrats have said they would bail him out should Greene bring the motion to the floor.

"Even trolls online have said they don't want it," one GOP lawmaker told the publication.

"I don't think she's going to do it -- I think that window for her has passed," said another.

Even some of Greene's fellow hardliners who voted to oust former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) have expressed reservations about Greene's push.

"I don't personally think so based on what I'm hearing, but you'd have to talk to the folks that have talked about triggering it," Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) said of the prospects for a successful motion to vacate.

"I'm not convinced that if we go into a motion to vacate, we come out with a more conservative solution, so I think every person has to evaluate it," said Rep. Josh Brecheen (R-OK).

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who led the insurrection against McCarthy, simply said he "hopes not" when asked about Greene bringing her motion to vacate back on the House floor this week.

Greene has gotten Reps. Paul Gossar (R-AZ) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) to support her motion to vacate Johnson, which would be enough to oust him if all Democrats voted in favor it as they did last year with Gaetz's motion to vacate McCarthy.

However, Democrats such as Reps. Tom Suozzi (D-NY) and Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) have indicated they would oppose the latest measure, which likely means Johnson's job is secure for the time being.
