How much Cardiff City want for Ebou Adams as Derby County 'prepare' transfer bid

Derby County are looking to make a permanent transfer move for Ebou Adams after a successful loan spell from Cardiff City.

The Gambian international played a key role in helping Derby make a return to the Championship, earning automatic promotion from League One.

Adams joined on a loan deal in January, with the Rams requiring some ball-winning ability in the central areas.

The 28-year-old quickly became a fan favourite at Pride Park, starting in all 17 League One games he was eligible to play.

Derby’s form picked up and Paul Warne eventually confirmed promotion for his side on the final day of the season, with the Rams earning a 2-0 victory over Carlisle.

The supporters made their views on the midfielder clear during the celebrations, clearly chanting “Sign him up”.

Ebou Adams to Derby transfer update

With the promotion celebrations still rumbling on, work behind the scenes will soon begin on the challenge of the season ahead for Derby in the Championship.

One of the key decisions will surround a potential permanent move for Adams, with the energetic midfielder returning to Cardiff for the off-season.

It appears as though the Rams are moving quickly to land their new cult hero, with a transfer offer being prepared.

According to reporter Darren Witcoop, Derby are preparing a bid worth £250,000 for Adams in order to get a permanent deal over the line.

The Bluebirds are open to a sale, with only one-year remaining on the loanee’s current contract, but they want double that offer at £500,000.

It remains to be seen just how much Derby owner David Clowes would be willing to spend to land the midfielder.

Derby’s transfer priorities

Derby will need something of a rebuild across all departments over the summer transfer market, though the midfield appears to be the key area to address.

Max Bird is already a guaranteed exit, following the midfielder’s January move to Bristol City and his eventual loan back.

Liam Thompson, Conor Hourihane and Korey Smith are all out of contract as well, leaving the Rams with just Tyrese Fornah currently under contract beyond the summer.

It leaves plenty of decisions to be made over new deals and potential signings over the coming months.
