'I have to go': Bernardo Silva names the club legend he would call to play just one more game for Man City

Bernardo Silva has named the Manchester City legend he would call just to play one more game for the club.

Several icons have played for City who would help them get over the line to win the Premier League and the FA Cup this season.

For instance, Yaya Toure would be perfect for the scenarios the Sky Blues find themselves in.

The Ivorian would come alive during the business end of the season.

During the 2011/2012 season, Yaya Toure’s display against Newcastle United was the stuff of legends where he scored a brace, allowing City to head into the final day of the campaign as potential title winners.

The contest on the penultimate day of the season was against Queens Park Rangers and as they say, the rest is history but against the Magpies, Toure scored two goals late into the game.

If not for the retired midfielder, a quality Newcastle side who looked like they could cause an upset may have derailed their title dreams.

In addition, Yaya Toure has a history of doing the business in the FA Cup.

Famously, Toure scored a brace in the semi-final against Manchester United in 2011 and the winner in the final against Stoke City and a game-changer like him would prove worth his weight in gold this time around.

Another Manchester City legend who would prove more than handy at this moment in time would be Vincent Kompany.

City’s defence has been porous this season and at such a crucial stage of the campaign, their leakiness at the back could cost them.

But if Kompany was to be able to play against either Tottenham in the league or against United in the FA Cup final, just like Toure, either of the pair would improve the Sky Blues tenfold in defence and attack respectively.

However, the man in question was neither of them.

Instead, Bernardo Silva picked David Silva as the player he would call to play one more game for Manchester City.

“That’s tough. I have to go David Silva because for me, he, growing up, he was a big guy that I looked up to and even when I played against Man City, I swapped shirts with him because I wanted his shirt so I’d say David”, Bernardo Silva said in a video on the club’s official YouTube channel.

David Silva would be a dream inclusion for Manchester City now

In our view, Bernardo Silva has made an intelligent choice by going for David Silva.

It seems like the Spaniard’s presence in the side is still missing.

The decorated technician is one of the only few players who could both control games for fun and create chances; a quality perhaps only Phil Foden has, who is not used as a number eight.

But Foden still has plenty to learn from the former Valencia hero in this regard, even though he is improving at slowing down how he plays.

Against either Tottenham or Manchester United, two teams who could give Manchester City the most problems this season, the inclusion of David Silva would give Bernardo Silva and Co. a huge boost.

Also considering how the majestic midfielder would thrive against the big teams and never shy away from pressure situations.

Alas, the £43 million man’s shout is a hypothetical scenario and cannot be turned into reality.
