‘Just a matter of time’: Alan Shearer says Man City star will now be buzzing after what he did vs Forest

Alan Shearer says that one Manchester City player will be buzzing after one thing that happened in the recent win over Nottingham Forest.

In their latest Premier League game, the Blues beat Forest 2-0 to take a step closer to potentially winning a fourth league title in a row.

Speaking in a recent episode of The Rest Is Football, Shearer had this to say about Erling Haaland’s goal against Forest and the impact it will have on him.

He said: “I don’t care who or what you are, if you haven’t scored for a while, then it definitely plays on your mind.

“It doesn’t matter how mentally strong you are, it has to, and it would have with him.

“I don’t think any of us doubted him.

“It was just a matter of time before he got back on track and back to normality, and it was a really good finish that he pushed onto his right foot, then finished it off, so yeah, confidence for him, it will do the world of good for him.”

Erling Haaland’s goals could be crucial in the title race

Heading into this game, the striker missed City’s FA Cup semi-final game against Chelsea and their 4-0 league win over Brighton & Hove Albion after he picked up an injury in their Champions League quarter-final second-leg against Real Madrid.

Having not scored a goal against the Spanish side after being on the receiving end of some criticism for his general play, the 23-year-old made his return to action in the second half of the Forest game where he then scored City’s second goal of the game and his 21st for the campaign.

After the game, Haaland said that it felt good to be back on the pitch but that the win was more important.

This shows that even though another Golden Boot is on the line and he the fact that he’s back to full fitness, his main focus is on the team getting the wins they need to get their hands on another league title.

With just four league games left to play, we feel that Haaland’s goals could be a crucial factor in where the title ends up.
