Ukraine needs a supply of faulty F-16 fighters. They could be used as donors for operational aircraft, stated the spokesperson for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Illia Yevlash.

Yevlash was asked if the information that Ukraine, among other things, might receive defective F-16s was true.

"Even if these are faulty aircraft, they are extremely necessary. There is a practice of using aircraft as donors in different countries... It's a normal practice: if one part doesn't work, the rest of the parts can be used to replace other components," emphasized the Air Force spokesperson.

He added that faulty aircraft can be used not only for repairs but also for other purposes determined by the command.

F-16 for Ukraine

Denmark and the Netherlands promised to provide Ukraine with dozens of F-16 fighters last year.

Prior to that, Ukrainian officials had repeatedly called for such a transfer, as Ukrainian aviation significantly lags behind the Russian one.

In an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Danish Ambassador to Kyiv Ole Egberg Mikkelsen said that the first F-16s would be delivered to Ukraine this summer.
