Bad news for West Ham as Newcastle reportedly take lead in race to land 'phenomenal' manager

West Ham United face missing out to Newcastle United in the race to appoint a brilliant new manager.

There is big change on the horizon at the London Stadium this summer, with the West Ham owners on the hunt for a new manager.

David Moyes has had his time in the sun at West Ham, and now it’s time to pass the baton on to someone else.

The 61-year-old Scot has underperformed in his role as Hammers manager this season, and the owners are believed to have a four-man shortlist in mind as they ramp up their search for a replacement for the Scot.

However, we have been linked heavily with one manager who doesn’t even feature on that list.

He is an exceptional coach but unfortunately for us, Newcastle appear to be leading the race to appoint him in the summer…

Bad news for West Ham in new manager hunt

The Hammers could be on the verge of an exciting new era, if Moyes is replaced properly this summer.

It will be vital for the West Ham owners to appoint a manager who offers something completely different to Moyes – an attractive brand of football at the very least.

There is one manager out there who would guarantee us exactly that, but it seems like he could be set for Newcastle unfortunately…

According to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, Newcastle United are in pole position to appoint Maurizio Sarri before the start of next season.

That’s hugely frustrating as the Hammers were said to be leading the race for the Italian just 10 days ago.

Described by These Football Times as a ‘phenomenal’ football manager, Sarri is well-known for the beautiful brand of football that he implements.

The 65-year-old would be brilliant for the Hammers, and his style of football would appeal greatly to the Hammers fanbase.

It is a highly attractive playing style, and he has his team operate with a really high defensive line and a zonal marking system.

However, the Newcastle fans are seemingly set to enjoy Sarri-ball next season, rather than the Hammers faithful.

And the West Ham new manager search will continue to rumble on…
