Ally McCoist says player Tottenham sold now looks ‘excellent’ after being snubbed by Ange Postecoglou

TalkSPORT pundit Ally McCoist has now admitted a player Tottenham Hotspur have sold is now looking like an excellent.

Tottenham once again showed their frailties over the weekend in their North London Derby clash against Arsenal.

Ange Postecoglou has put together a solid backline during his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, that defence is only looking solid on paper with the Lilywhites leaking goals from all over the place.

MIcky van de Ven has been brought in over the summer to bolster the backline and Radu Dragusin was signed as a replacement for Eric Dier in January.

But Spurs have now conceded a whopping seven goals in their last two Premier League games.

As well as a number of players being brought into the club since Postecoglou’s appointment, a number have been shipped off over the two windows he’s overseen.

And the TalkSPORT pundit now feels that there is one player who has since departed which is looking like a much better player than who left Spurs.

Ally McCoist is loving what former Tottenham man is doing at his new club

There is a running theme of players who are finding their feet in their new lives after leaving Tottenham.

One of them could be seen last night in Harry Winks who got his hands on the Championship trophy with Leicester City.

Albeit in the second tier, the Englishman has enjoyed his first season away from Spurs after leaving in the summer.

And there is another Englishman who left eve more recently in the centre-back, Dier.

The 30-year-old left just a matter of months after Harry Kane did to reunited with his compatriot at Bayern Munich.

Although the Bundesliga crown has slipped for the German giants, they now face a huge game tonight against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi finals.

And Dier has already played a huge role in the Munich side since arriving in January with the Spurs loanee set to sign permanently in the summer.

Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist has waxed lyrical about the 30-year-old as he has claimed he could even land a spot in England’s Euros squad.

“He wasn’t playing consistently either for Munich [when he signed]. It was Upamecano and Kim who they got from Napoli were playing together. And then Eric Dier’s came in with De Ligt. And the two of them have looked excellent. They’ve looked great,” he said.

“And they looked, particularly Dier, I thought it really suited him the Arsenal game. I mean, he looked very, very comfortable. Arsenal tried with that kind of high press and he was just dropping it in to Harry Kane.”

Tottenham now looking for another centre-back this summer

The Spurs News understand that Tottenham will be looking to add another centre-back to their squad over the summer.

It now looks like Europa League football will be the best Spurs can realisticallu hope for this season.

And with that will come the need for Postecoglou to rotate his squad.

Dragusin has arrived in January and barely played any football with just 229 minutes to his name in a Spurs shirt.

That should change next season as Spurs look to compete ona number of fronts. However, it will be interesting to see what level of player they look to sign after seemingly gotten rid of a quality one in Dier.
