'Quality': Cody Gakpo says Liverpool have a 'very skilled' player who can play anywhere in midfield

Cody Gakpo has been full of praise for one ‘very skilled’ player at Liverpool right now who can play anywhere in midfield.

No matter what has gone on in the last few months of the season, this Liverpool team is set for a bright future.

There are a lot of exciting young players in the team who have shown in glimpses the potential that they have. Although they still have a lot more potential left to fulfil as well.

One of those is Cody Gakpo, and recently he has been speaking about another in Dominik Szoboszlai, and talking about the qualities that the Hungarian brings to the Liverpool midfield.

Cody Gakpo on what Dominik Szoboszlai brings to the Liverpool team

In an interview with MLSZ, Cody Gakpo was asked about Dominik Szoboszlai and to describe the Hungarian captain’s qualities.

The Dutch forward replied with an emphatic answer, lavishing praise on Szoboszlai and describing him as a player who can play anywhere in midfield.

“Lots of quality,” Gakpo said.

“I can agree with the people. Really good in set-pieces. Good shooting ability but that’s not all. Very energetic on the pitch. He runs a lot, fast. Athlete wise also in a good shape.

“He’s technical, very skilled as well. He’s a very good midfielder. I think he can do a lot of things, playing in different positions in the midfield. So yeah, I’m really happy that we have him in the team.”

Gakpo then als went onto praise Szoboszlai’s qualities off the pitch as well.

“When you are 22-years-old and you are captain of your country, that says already a lot about the quality he has as a player. Obviously, he’s very good and as a person, also a good guy, a good person trying to help everybody where possible.”

What are Dominik Szoboszlai’s numbers like for Liverpool this season?

Szoboszlai has been a great signing for Liverpool, even if his form has dipped towards the end of the season (so has every other Liverpool players’ in fairness).

In total, he has scored seven goals and made four assists. This doesn’t include the penalties he won as well or the shots he has taken, which were rebounded and turned into goals.

There is no denying there is a lot more to come from the Hungarian, but this has been a really positive start from him so far.
