Report: Wolves could actually sign 'exceptional' £38m winger this summer for between £10-13m

Wolves fans are hoping for some exciting new signings this summer – and a report has now suggested how much it will set the club back to sign Rodrigo Gomes from SC Braga.

Wanderers are expected to sell Pedro Neto this summer, with a whole host of top clubs on his tail.

The 23-year-old has shone when he has played this season, although his injury problems are likely to cost Wolves a few million pounds.

But the expectation is that he will still go, as the next ‘big sale’. Or if not him, then Rayan Ait-Nouri, who is said to be attracting a lot of attention.

If either of those players depart then Wolves are going to need a replacement – and Rodrigo Gomes of Braga is someone who has been linked this year.

Now, there is word of a potential price tag…

Rodrigo Gomes has enjoyed a really good season over in the Portuguese top-flight, playing on loan at Estoril, the former club of Toti Gomes.

The talented 20-year-old has operated largely as a right wing-back, but really showed his attacking qualities, scoring eight goals and supplying eight assists.

A winger by trade, Gomes has done a wonderful job playing as a wing-back, and his capability of playing as one may really appeal to Gary O’Neil, who obviously changed Wolves’ formation early in the season to use wing-backs.

O Jogo are reporting that Wanderers may not have to break the bank to land Gomes this summer.

The player has a release clause of £38 million, but it is stated that it could only take between £10-13 million to sign him.

Rodrigo Gomes one to watch

It would be no surprise if Wolves ended up making a move for Rodrigo Gomes this summer – especially if one of Ait-Nouri or Neto leaves.

Gomes mainly plays from the right, but he has the versatility to play on the left too.

He is exactly the kind of player Wolves are all about signing these days. Young, and with the potential to be special to sell for a big profit later down the line.

16 goal contributions from a 20-year-old right wing-back is highly impressive. And O Jogo’s report also features some encouraging quotes from an old coach of Gomes. João Pereira, coach of Alverca, describes him as ‘an exceptional and humble kid’, which is bound to make him appeal to O’Neil.
