'Fantastic': Ben Foster wowed by something Everton have done 'for fun' this season

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has been impressed by something Everton have done “for fun” this season.

It’s been a superb couple of weeks for Sean Dyche’s men, who have now secured their place in the Premier League for the 2023/24 season.

Wins over Burnley, Nottingham Forest,Liverpool and Brentford have turned the Toffees’ fortunes around.

Dyche was a man under fire just two weeks ago, but even the most critical Evertonian would give the 52-year-old credit for his side’s recent performances.

The former Burnley boss has undoubtedly become the flavour of the month in the media, with several big-name pundits piling on the praise.

Dyche’s methods can quickly come under fire, particularly when things aren’t going to plan. However, during Everton’s fine recent run, the Blues have looked potent in front of goal whilst maintaining their rock-solid defensive traits; it’s certainly a good combination.

Foster, talking on the latest episode of the Fozcast [38m, 10secs], has been wowed by the rate at which Everton has picked up clean sheets this season.

“Everton, it’s been a fantastic couple of weeks,” he said. “A brilliant win against Liverpool, and follow it up with another 1-0 win. Clean sheets for fun at Everton; Sean Dyche has done a fantastic job this season. Eight points were deducted, but they’re by far and away safe. Really happy for Everton, actually.”

Sean Dyche’s methods prove the catalysts for Everton’s Premier League survival

The reason Everton have stayed up this season is down to their backline.

Their last four wins have come to nil, which displays Dyche’s methods in a nutshell. Combining defensive excellence with a touch of attacking flare can prove to be a lethal combination, as we’ve seen in the Toffees’ recent successes.

Of course, there have been times this season when Everton have looked completely ineffective in front of the goal, but when it matters, Dyche’s tactics have worked brilliantly.

Foster isn’t the only pundit to laud the Everton boss. Ian Wright was also full of praise for Dyche on the Wrighty’s House Podcast.

He said: “Can I give flowers to Sean Dyche please? Tracksuit Dyche! Give him some flowers for what he’s done and everything he has had to deal with. I was worried for them.”
