'This is ridiculous': George Conway buries Trump for 'waste of time' stall tactics

MSNBC

Anti-Trump attorney George Conway on Tuesday marveled at the ways former President Donald Trump and his legal team have gummed up the works to turn his hush-money trial into a long slog.

What set Conway off was the need to swear in Philip Thompson, an executive at the Esquire Deposition Solutions, to personally authenticate deposition videos that were used as exhibits in the trial.

Thompson had to testify, according to Conway, because Trump and his legal team refused to stipulate that videos of Trump taken from the E. Jean Carroll defamation case were genuine, despite the fact that they clearly were.

"I have never seen a deposition from another case introduced into evidence by calling the court reporter company's custodian of documents as a witness," Conway observed on Twitter.

"Again, that's because the defendant who is complaining about these proceedings is seeking to drag these proceedings out, instead of simply agreeing that the depositions are the depositions like a normal litigant."

As the proceedings wore on Conway continued to express frustration with Trump for engaging in such a seemingly petty stall tactic.

"And here we go," he wrote. "The first clip has [Carroll attorney Robbie Kaplan] asking the defendant what Truth Social is. This is such a waste of time — and it's the defendant who caused it."

In another tweet, Conway fumed that "this is ridiculous" but emphasized that "it's not the prosecution's fault."

Just before Conway was prepared to tune out of the trial, it seems that Trump's legal team decided not to cross-examine the custodian of documents, thus freeing up time for more relevant witnesses.

"I'm here for the amusing stuff," Conway quipped. "I know that surprises all of you."
