Micky van de Ven reveals ‘special’ thing he’s noticed about Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has now revealed just what Ange Postecoglou does that has impressed him most.

It was a disappointing weekend for Tottenham who saw any faint hope of Champions League qualification pretty much vanish.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side tasted defeat in the North London Derby with Cristian Romero and Heung-min Son‘s goals not enough to complete a comeback.

And it was an afternoon which did not provide many standout performances with only Romero and Micky van de Ven coming out of the game with much credit to their names.

The Dutchman has been speaking on the back of the defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to share just how impressed he has been with Postecoglou.

It may not be panning out to be the end to the season Spurs fans would have hoped for, but it has been a season of progression nonetheless.

Van de Ven has been impressed by something he’s noticed from Ange Postecoglou

Having signed in the summer from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, Van de Ven has established himself as one of the top defenders in the Premier League.

It did not take long for the 23-year-old’s speed to be noticed across the league with the Dutchman becoming the league’s fastest-ever player.

However, he has had some issues this season with his hamstrings causing him some concerns over the term.

And his outing against Newcastle United is one he will want to put behind him in a hurry.

But he has still been an excellent signing for Tottenham and looks to be a player who they are going to be able to rely on for years to come.

Speaking to the club’s website after the game against Arsenal, Van de Ven has revealed what he finds so special about his manager.

His vision on football, I liked it, to play out from the back, to play offensive football with a lot of possession. The way he spoke to me and the trust he gave me in the meeting really convinced me,” he said.

“I think he’s a top manager. He’s really clear in what he wants and sticks to his principles. What makes him special is that he knows what he wants and what is best for his teams, so he keeps pushing us more and more which is important.”

Interesting stats that show just how impressive Micky van de Ven has been for Spurs

Having signed Radu Dragusin in the January transfer window, the Romanian has not been able to break the partnership of Romero and Van de Ven.

Having taken the 23-year-old’s spot in the starting XI during his latest injury issue, Van de Ven returned straight back after recovering.

And it is clear to see why when the Dutchman has performed at the level he has this season.

As impressive as Van de Ven has been this season, playing in Europe next term will require Postecoglou to rotate his side more often.

The Dutchman’s hamstring issues are there for all to see and Spurs will be hoping to avoid a repeat of it next season.
