Mark Robertson, one of the scouts who helped Manchester City sign Morgan Rogers has made a claim about him.

The 21-year-old who has signed for Aston Villa since has been one of the Premier League’s best young players this season.

The Englishman signed for City at just 17 years of age from West Bromwich Albion.

However, like any youngster, Rogers had to go on several loan spells to prove his worth.

Morgan Rogers was sent on loan to the likes of Lincoln City, AFC Bournemouth and Blackpool.

However, in the summer, the prodigious attacker was sold to Middlesborough.

However, during these loan stints, the England U-21 international was not known as a household name to Premier League viewers.

Until Rogers signed for Aston Villa in January, where he has made 10 Premier League starts while registering three goals and an assist.

The statistics might not read as impressively as how Rogers has performed.

Whether it be as an attacking midfielder or as a left-winger, Morgan Rogers has looked like a gem of a talent, going past players for fun, creating chances and picking up intelligent positions on the pitch.

To discover such youth prospects, it takes experts behind the scenes to do so.

One of them was Mark Robertson, who claimed that Morgan Rogers’ rise is just starting, as he wrote on X, “Being part of the scouting process to bring him to Man City, I can honestly say this couldn’t happen to a nicer guy/player. Just getting started.”

If Rogers is just getting started, as Robertson claimed, he could develop into a truly special player.

But even so, it seems like Manchester City perhaps made the wise call to let go of Morgan Rogers as well.

City have plenty of young players likelier to get first-team minutes than him such as Rico Lewis, Oscar Bobb, Jacob Wright and Micah Hamilton to name a few.

While Rogers has become a starter at Villa, who could qualify for the Champions League.
