Micah Richards and Alan Shearer both have same reaction to Erik ten Hag’s bold Man Utd claim after Burnley draw

Micah Richards and Alan Shearer both had the same reaction after Erik ten Hag made a bold claim about Manchester United following the 1-1 draw against Burnley.

Erik ten Hag’s men had to settle for a draw on Saturday after Premier League strugglers Burnley snatched a crucial point late in the second half.

Antony broke the deadlock for Manchester United at Old Trafford in the 79th minute before Andre Onana’s reckless challenge secured a penalty for Burnley.

Zeki Amdouni stepped up for Burnley and beat Andre Onana from the spot-kick, with United dropping costly Premier League points again this season.

Erik ten Hag’s side are no longer able to finish inside the top four and will now be without Champions League football for the following campaign.

The Red Devils are sixth and are only one point ahead of seventh-place Newcastle with four Premier League matches remaining.

Ten Hag, who has been under immense pressure this season, will see United’s season culminate on 25th May with his side’s FA Cup final against Manchester City.

What did Ten Hag say about Man Utd?

Erik ten Hag will want to do everything in his power to avoid a repeat of last season’s FA Cup final against Manchester City and lift the trophy this season.

Manchester United have been inconsistent in the current campaign and the Red Devils have struggled to see out contests comfortably when they are leading.

The Premier League club’s form has taken a tumble in recent weeks, with United winning only one of their last five league fixtures.

Speaking after the Burnley match at Old Trafford, Ten Hag boldly praised the “dynamic” and “entertaining” aspects of the current United team.

“We are one of the most dynamic and entertaining teams in the league at this moment,” he told BBC’s Match of the Day.

“We are creating loads of chances by playing good football. Every team gives up opportunities. But when it is up to us, it is weird.”

Richards and Shearer react to Ten Hag’s comments

Responding to Ten Hag’s comments, Micah Richards said on The Rest Is Football podcast: “Who said that?! Repeat that quote, please.”

Alan Shearer, much like The Rest Is Football co-host Richards, was baffled when Match of the Day host Gary Lineker read out Ten Hag’s comments again.

“[They’re the most dynamic and entertaining team] off the field, maybe, with all the controversy,” he said.

“He can’t be talking about on the pitch, deary me!”

Shearer pulled no punches towards Ten Hag and claimed that United were fortunate not to concede more against Burnley at Old Trafford.

“No, they’re not [one of the most dynamic and entertaining teams in the league],” he said.

“You just don’t know what team is going to turn up. They get a decent result one week and they’re hopeless the next, you don’t know what you’re going to get. But that’s not true.

“Burnley played really well at Old Trafford and sliced through United with ease, although that’s not difficult these days.

“If they had taken their chances, they could have scored five or six goals.”
