‘Very difficult’: Emmanuel Adebayor says one Man City player could be vital in crucial Spurs match

Emmanuel Adebayor has said that one Manchester City player could be very important in the club’s upcoming Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Blues have just four Premier League games left to play in this campaign, one of which is an away trip to take on the Lilywhites, who lost 3-2 to their close rivals and title-chasers Arsenal on Sunday.

Even though City have lost their four previous away league games against Tottenham, one pundit and former top-flight player, who knows what it’s like to play for both sides, has shared his thoughts on this upcoming game.

Specifically, the pundit has pinpointed one figure in Pep Guardiola’s side who he thinks could have a big say in how City’s match against Spurs could go.

Speaking in a recent video shared on the Premier League website, Adebayor said this on the matter.

He said: “If Spurs play like [they did v Arsenal] against Man City, with the big man [Erling Haaland] coming back full of confidence, scoring, looking sharp, looking fit, then it will be very, very difficult for them.”

After missing City’s FA Cup semi-final match against Chelsea and their 4-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League through injury, the striker made his return in the second half of the recent match against Nottingham Forest.

With City 1-0 up in the second half, Haaland doubled his side’s lead with his 21st league goal of the season just nine minutes after coming on.

Erling Haaland could terrify Spurs

In 27 league appearances this season, the 23-year-old has racked up more shots at goal (99) and shots on target (44) than any other player at the Manchester club.

This alone makes it easy to see why Adebayor, who scored 19 goals in 45 appearances for City and 42 in 113 for Spurs, thinks Haaland could prove to be a terrifying prospect for Postecoglou’s side to deal with.
