'Precisely zero evidence': Analyst relentlessly fact-checks Trump's latest courthouse rant

Donald Trump raged Tuesday outside the Manhattan courtroom where he faces a criminal hush money trial and spurred one indignant CNN analyst to blast the former president for what he described as a torrent of false and misleading claims.

Daniel Dale told anchor Jake Tapper he has grown tired of addressing Trump's claim that the four criminal trials he faces were orchestrated by President Joe Biden as part of a political witch hunt.

"It's a tradition now in these appearances, I do after these post-court hearings," Dale said. "I come out here and note, correctly, that that's not true. It's completely baseless."

Dale fumed he's lost count of the number of times he's contested Trump's claim that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a local official elected by New Yorkers, is working covertly with the Justice department.

"I don't know how many times I've said this," Dale said. "There's precisely zero evidence Biden had any role."

Dale also pointed to accusations — repeated Tuesday in angry letter from Rep. Jim Jordan — levied against former Justice department official and current prosecutor Matthew Colangelo.

"There is no basis for any suggestion that President Biden personally put him there, ordered him there, etcetera," Dale said.

"And then we had this laundry list of other claims," Dale continued. "So former President Trump said he should be campaigning in various states. Perhaps he would have been, we can't check that hypothetical, but our Kristen Holmes keeps noting that even on the off-days that former President Trump has, he tends to not be scheduling campaign events. He tends to be at Mar-a-Lago on the golf course. So the idea that he'd be out campaigning every day, he's in court, I think is dubious at best."

Trump also made claims about his more than $450 million civil fraud ruling, saying that Judge Arthur Engoron refused to enforce the appellate court's ruling in the case.

"That's not what happened," said Dale. "Engoron interpreted an appeals court decision in a way that former President Trump didn't like, did not reject it."

"And then I'll just note that at the same time, former President Trump said that Judge [Juan] Merchan, presiding over this case, is rushing this case through. And then that someone said to him, I've never sat this long in court before, so he's simultaneously complaining — like, literally almost in the same breath — the judge is making this go too fast and also is making it go too slow," said Dale. "It's not really a fact check, but just wanted to note, Jake."
