Super Bowl 2025 is less than a year away, but Fox is asking a lot of money from companies who want to air commercials. According to Variety, the network is seeking at least $7 million for a 30-second ad. The starting price is a little higher than what Paramount asked for this year’s Super Bowl which aired in February. At the time, Paramount initially sought between $6.5 million and $7 million for a half-minute commercial.

The price for a Super Bowl ad normally doesn’t emerge until later this year. But Variety mentioned that the rise of streaming has led to live sports having a critical role in the media business. When the Super Bowl aired on CBS earlier this year, the network sold out it’s commercial spots. And when Fox aired the big game in 2023, it sold 95 percent of its inventory by September 2022.

Fox is looking to have that success again, especially with the viewership for the championship setting records the last two years. “We have never received the Super Bowl in this good of a shape before,” Jeff Collins, Fox Corp.’s president of advertising sales, told Variety in an earlier interview.

Tom Brady expected to call Super Bowl 2025

With Fox airing Super Bowl LIX, this means that Tom Brady will be calling the game as he’s expected to join the team this fall. Earlier this year, the seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback appeared on The Pat McAfee Show to talk about how he’s preparing for his new role.

“I’ve been to FOX Studios a few times and done some really dry runs with Kevin who’s tremendous at what he does,” Brady told McAfee. “I’m super excited to join an amazing team, Rich Russo and Richie Zyontz, we talk a lot about football, we talked a lot about how I see the game.”

Brady also talked about potentially replacing Greg Olsen who has been the Fox’s lead analyst for the last two seasons. “I think Greg’s done an incredible job, I have so much respect for him, how he approaches his job. He’s super prepared in what he does, I think he does an incredible job every time he’s on. I love listening to him and I’m just gonna go in there and do the best I can do with my own perspective and I certainly have had a unique vision and perspective of the game of 23 years and hopefully I can just provide some insight to all the viewers and all the fans who love the game, who love the sport,” Brady said.

Super Bowl LIX will air on Sunday Feb. 9, 2025. The game will be played at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
